5.Mellah of Tazart, Morocco

Mellah is a walled Jewish quarter or an ancient apartment of a city in Morocco. The mellah was created as a home for the Moroccan Jewish and the protection against the attacks of the Arabs. However, with the growing population, it had become a miserable and poor place.
The Mellah become an empty place especially after the establishment of a new Jewish country when the Jews move out from this place. It was then become the settlement of some of the Moor people.
The Mellah of Tazart is situated about 300 kilometres south of Marrakech. The Mellah then became uninhabitable and abandoned when water in the region dried up and it was not possible to live there anymore. Since then, it had become a ghost town where there are no people living in the Mellah.
Although it is uninhabitable for people anymore, the Mellah is still being preserved and taken care of by the people of Morocco. The government of Morocco are still taking care of this site although some of the buildings had been destroyed. It then become a tourist attraction especially for foreign tourist
Usually, when you say ghost town, it happened because of the turmoil or the peace that has been disrupt where most of the residents of the town took decision to ran away from the place. This happens in a conflicted countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
But this one different, this ghost town exist because of weather crisis and now it had become one of the main tourist attraction in Morocco. Although the spot is just an abandoned settlement, there are the beautiful sculpture that are still exist until today.
